Fade Away

Fade Away is a memory quilt created in honor of my mom, Laura Green Irwin, who passed away after her battle with leiomyosarcoma in December 2014. Designed with the idea of shapes and fabrics fading across the quilt, it reflects both loss and remembrance. This pattern is especially meaningful for memory quilts — whether using clothing, cherished fabrics, or scraps that represent the people and moments you hold dear. Each quilt tells a unique story, and creativity is encouraged. My hope is that Fade Away brings comfort, healing, and joy to everyone who makes and uses it.

Quilting Suggestions

Once you've finished the quilt top, it can be difficult to choose a design to quilt it. Here are several longarming pantographs I have either used on the cover quilts or think are great options:

Gridlock from Longarming League

Raspberry Lemonade from Penguin Feats

Outer Space from Mistletoe Quilting Co.

Rocketships from Urban Elementz

Keep Exploring from A Bit Orange

I've also mocked up a few different designs that can be done on a domestic machine. Download the file below.
