This tip works for all snowball corners except when fabric direction is important. Not only do you cut half the snowballs but it is especially handy if you don't quite have enough fabric! For the Launch Status Check quilt it means you can get 3 rockets out of 1 fat quarter instead of just 2.
Add 3/4" to the width of the snowball corner making it a rectangle. Cut one corner for every two corners called for in the pattern. For example - in the Launch Status Check quilt the snowball corners are 3 1/2" square so instead you would cut 3 1/2" x 4 1/4" rectangle.
On the back of the fabric, along the top length mark 3/4" from the right corner and draw a line from that point to the bottom left corner. Along the bottom length mark 3/4" from the left corner and draw a line from that point to the top right corner.
RST, align the snowball corner to the fabric the pattern directs. Align the edges of the fabric and make sure the ends of the line meet the edge of the other fabric, the second line off the edge of the fabric. Sew down the line completely on the fabric. Trim at 1/4".
Align the second side of the corner of the next piece of fabric that the pattern directs. Make sure the ends of the line meet the edges of the fabric. The trimmed scrap from the block you added the first snowball corner to can help align the second corner. Sew down the marked line. Trim at 1/4"
